Endodontics
Endodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the dental pulp. Dental pulp refers to the tissue located inside the tooth, which is not only highly vascularized but also very sensitive. If the dental pulp becomes inflamed or diseased, endodontics is needed to save the tooth that is affected. This includes procedures such as root canals, root amputations, and fixing cracked teeth. Root canals include removing the dental pulp and filling the tooth and then covering the tooth with a porcelain crown. Unlike the common portrayals of root canals, the procedure is relatively painless and relieves toothaches almost instantly.
